My story moving forward.
I have always been bold, passionate, and creative since I have a memory. Bold in my approach to everything I do, my art raw and unapologetic and music is straightforward approachable. So, for the longest time I wanted to merge them together to enhance the viewer’s experience. Maybe it is because the years as an apprentice under my mentor and friend Academy Award re-recording artist, the late Richard Portman, or the one time brief assistantship under renown conceptual artist Jochen Gerz for his project “Reasons to Smile,” or by participating in an art performance by Native American performance artist James Luna; whichever it was, I’ve always been creating and composing music and art that go together well.
My music is primarily electronic and progressive rock, with classical music, large orchestral arrangement in its scope, yet I have written two string quartets and multiple fusion Jazz pieces that complement the visuals of my visual art.
My digital art compositions combine 3D rendered elements, photography, mixed media and traditional oil paintings. My art is visually intense with iconoclastic surreal imagery dashed with a pinch of humor and a dab of sensuality. I believe we artists have have a bit of self-deprecating sense of humor, everything is not all gloom and seriousness.
Let me introduce myself, I’m Carlos Miranda. I’m a photographer, artist, music composer, scriptwriter, cinematographer and I’m an assistant professor for graphic communications at the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication at Florida A&M University.
